The Police Service Commission has approved the appointment of Commissioners of Police for Taraba and Anambra State Commands.
The PSC Head, Press and Public Relations, Ikechukwu Ani, said in a statement on Wednesday, February 5, that with the approval, Chukwudi Chris Ariekpere from Abia State becomes the new Commissioner of Police for Taraba State, taking over from CP Peter Oparah.
CP Livingstein Ikioye Orutugu from Bayelsa State will be in charge of Anambra State Command, as he takes over from Obong Nnache Itam.
The PSC Chairman, DIG Hashimu Argungu (rtd), enjoined the new Commissioners to promptly settle down to their new duty posts and leave no gap that might allow breakdown of law and order.
DIG Argungu charged the new CPs to be dedicated and committed to duty, and ensure that Nigeria is freed from the menace of bandits and deviants.
He said that the Commission would continue to monitor their conduct in order to ensure their succeed in their new duty posts.
The PSC spokesman said that Commission’s decision had been conveyed to the Inspector General of Police for immediate implementation.
