The Inspector General of Police, Dr Olukayode Adeolu Egbetokun, on Tuesday, March 25, decorated newly-promoted AIG Gyogon Augustine Grimah, along other senior officers.
The ceremony was held at the Goodluck Jonathan Peacekeeping Hall, Force Headquarters, Abuja.
The IGP was assisted by the wife of AIG Grimah and some other family members during the decoration.
AIG Grimah had been posted to Zone 10, the zonal command with headquarters in Sokoto State, to take charge of its administration.
The new Assistant Inspector General of Police, who, according to a statement by the Zonal Public Relations Officer, DSP Uthman Muhammad Yaqub, hailed from Nasarawa State, holds a B.Sc. Hons in Chemistry from Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria & Master’s degree in Public Administration .
He enlisted in the Nigeria Police Force as a Cadet Assistant Superintendent of Police (C/ASP) in May, 1992, and trained at Police Academy Annex, Kaduna.
At the completion of his training till his deployment to Zone 10, AIG Grimah had served in several state commands and Police formations in various capacities including Patrol & Guard (P&G) Operations, Enugu State Command; Unit Commander (U/C) in 27 PMF Katsina State; second-in-command, Squadron Commander in 27 PMF Katsina State; Staff Officer, Federal Operations, Force Headquarters, Abuja; Divisional Police Officer (DPO) S/Gari Division, Katsina State; and Investigator in Special Fraud Unit (SPU), FCID, Abuja.
At the strategic managerial cadre of the Force, he was the Commandant, Police Secondary School (PSS), Calabar; Commandant, Police Boys Secondary School (PBSS), Mani, Katsina State; AC Department Training and Development, Katsina State Command; AC X-Squad, FCID, Abuja; AC SCID, Plateau State Command; and Deputy Commissioner of Police (DC), Force Provost Marshall, Force Headquarters, Abuja.
He was also the Deputy Commissioner of Police, Criminal Investigation Department, Enugu State Command; Deputy Commissioner of Police, Department of Operations, Ekiti State Command.
On his promotion to Commissioner of Police, he was in charge of Information Communication Technology (ICT), Force Headquarters, Abuja; Commissioner of Police, Kaduna State Command and Commissioner of Police, Cross River State Command, from where he got his posting to Zone 10 Police Headquarters, Sokoto, as the 24th Assistant Inspector General of Police.
AIG Grimah has vast knowledge and experience in police operations, investigation and administration, which he has pledged to utilise in the administration of Zone 10 Police Headquarters, in order to subdue the various forms of criminality bedevilling the zone.
