The Edo Broadcasting Station will begin its new flagship news programme “EBS Tonight” on May 5.

This was disclosed by the Managing Director/Editor-in-Chief, Sulaiman Aledeh, in a statement on Saturday, April 19.

The new programme ends the EBS Comprehensive News, aired daily at 8p.m., as it would broadcast its final edition on May 4.

Saying that “EBS Tonight” promises to elevate broadcasting station’s coverage to new heights, Aledeh stated that it would feature a comprehensive look at news from all sectors of national life, including significant international stories.

“One of the highlights of this new programme will be live interviews with esteemed guests from around the globe, allowing for in-depth discussions and diverse perspectives on the issues that matter most,” the MD/E-I-C said.

He added: “Initially, ‘EBS Tonight’ will be a one-hour show, with plans to extend into a two-hour uninterrupted news talk show in the near future.

“After decades of dedicated service, we believe it is time to retire EBS Comprehensive News and embrace this innovative format with EBS Tonight.

“The changing landscape of news consumption calls for a fresh approach that not only informs but engages our audience in a meaningful dialogue.

“We are committed to providing compelling content that reflects the dynamic world we live in.

“We want to take this opportunity to express our heartfelt gratitude to all our viewers, including our esteemed EBS alumni in Nigeria and the Diaspora, for your unwavering support throughout the years.

“Your loyalty has been instrumental in our journey, and we especially thank EBS’s number one fan and brand ambassador, Governor Monday Okpebholo, for his belief in our vision and determination to see EBS compete with the leading players in the media industry.

“Thank you for being a part of our community. We look forward to embarking on this exciting new chapter together.”
