In the fight against crime and illicit drug trafficking, operatives of Kwara State Police Command, in collaboration with those of the National Security Adviser (NSA), the Nigeria Forest Security Service (NFSS), and vigilante groups, recorded another breakthrough on Friday, September 26, with the interception of a vehicle loaded with 127 bags of substances suspected to be cannabis which were concealed under tubers of yams.
The interception was made at about 4p.m. along the Babanla–Oreke–Oke-Ode axis, Thenewsbearer learnt.
Arrested in connection with the illicit drugs were two male suspects, Dan-Teni Haruna and Rabiu Ibrahim. Both of them were from Saliku in Magama Local Government Area of Niger State.
The operatives also apprehended Mohammed Abubakar and Hussain, both from Tsaragi; and Tukur Ibrahim, a suspected kidnapper, who were involved in the invasion of Babanla on August 8.
In a statement on Saturday, September 27, the police image maker in Kwara, SP Adetoun Ejire-Adeyemi, said that the suspects would be arraigned in court after a discreet investigation.
Commending the team for their effective collaboration, the Commissioner of Police, Adekimi Ojo, reaffirmed the Command’s commitment to maintaining security across the state.
He warned criminals to leave Kwara State, as the Command would not make it a safe haven for them.
