Oyo State Governor, Seyi Makinde, has congratulated elder statesman and veteran politician, Dr Saka Balogun, on his 90th birthday, describing him as a worthy role model, an exemplary patriot and a respected leader.
In a congratulatory statement issued on Wednesday, July 22, by his Special Adviser on Media, Dr Sulaimon Olanrewaju, the governor praised the Balogun of Ogbomosoland and Chairman of the Oyo State Elders’ Council for his decades of selfless service to Oyo State and the nation.
Makinde said Dr Balogun had distinguished himself as an accomplished academic, community leader and public servant whose contributions to the development of Oyo State and Nigeria remain remarkable.
He noted that the nonagenarian, who also served as Chief of Staff to former Oyo State Governor, the late Adebayo Alao-Akala, has consistently demonstrated integrity, patriotism and exemplary political leadership throughout his career.
According to the governor, Dr Balogun has remained committed to speaking the truth and offering wise counsel in the interest of good governance and national development.
“Today, we celebrate our father, Dr Saka Balogun, on the occasion of his 90th birthday.
“In Baba Balogun, Ogbomosoland has had decades of community service and leadership; Oyo State has had a straightforward, upright and exemplary public servant ever ready to contribute his quota to moving the state forward and Nigeria has had a patriot, who is never afraid to speak truth to power.
“As he celebrates his 90th birthday still agile and always available to serve humanity, our prayers are that God will grant him more years and good health and may he continue to make impact on humanity.
“Happy birthday, Baba,” the governor said.
Makinde prayed for continued good health, strength and long life for the elder statesman as he marks the milestone birthday.
