‎Police arrest ‘pastor’ over alleged N2.5m fake Jerusalem pilgrimage ‎

The Ogun State Police Command has arrested a man identified as Kehinde Makinde, popularly known as “Pastor Kenny,” over an alleged N2.5m fraud involving 18 fellowship members who were reportedly promised a government-sponsored pilgrimage to Jerusalem.

‎Makinde was arrested on August 3, 2026, in Ibadan, Oyo State, following four months of surveillance and intelligence gathering by detectives attached to the Obantoko Police Division, according to the command.

‎The police spokesperson, DSP Oluseyi Babaseyi, said in a statement on Monday that the suspect allegedly collected about N2.5m from the fellowship members in Saje, Adatan, under the guise of organising the pilgrimage.

‎According to the police, Makinde allegedly promised each of the 18 members N2m in addition to arranging their trip to Jerusalem.
‎
‎The command also accused him of allegedly manipulating unsuspecting victims under the guise of conducting spiritual deliverance across Ogun, Oyo and Osun states.
‎
‎Babaseyi said the arrest followed an investigation into the activities of the suspect, who was allegedly operating under the identity of a pastor.
‎“The suspect remains in police custody while efforts continue to identify additional victims and apprehend his accomplices,” the police spokesperson said.
‎
‎The command said investigations are ongoing.
