The Oyo State Police Command has arrested two suspects in connection with the kidnapping of a 38-year-old man, Nathaniel Peter, at Layeri Village, via Ikoyi-Ile, Oyo State.
The Police Public Relations Officer, Oyo State Command, DSP Ayanlade Olayinka, disclosed this in a statement issued on Sunday, September 27, 2026.
According to the PPRO, the incident was reported on September 24 at about 5:50 p.m. by a resident of the community, who informed the police that armed men had invaded a family compound in the area earlier that day at about 4:20 a.m.
Ayanlade said police operatives immediately responded to the report and proceeded to the scene for preliminary assessment and investigation.
He said preliminary findings showed that three armed men forcibly gained entry into the room of Peter and abducted him from the premises.
The assailants reportedly escaped through the National Reserve Forest after allegedly carting away a Hajue motorcycle and the victim’s mobile phone.
The PPRO said further investigation led to the arrest of two suspects, identified as Muhammadu Abubakar, male, adult, and Jayun Danali, 17.
He said the suspects were assisting the police with information relevant to the investigation, adding that their arrest had provided useful leads towards identifying and apprehending other persons connected with the incident.
Meanwhile, the Command, in collaboration with other security agencies, has intensified coordinated operations aimed at rescuing the victim safely and apprehending other fleeing members of the suspected criminal gang.
The PPRO assured residents of the affected communities of the Command’s commitment to their safety and security.
He urged members of the public to remain vigilant and promptly provide credible information to the police to assist ongoing efforts to resolve the incident and maintain peace and security across the state.
