The Oyo State Government has described the latest resignation of the Commissioner for Budget and Planning, Barrister Ayobami Ojo, from Governor Seyi Makinde’s administration as an expected development.
The Commissioner for Information, Prince Dotun Oyelade, said this in a statement on Monday, November 2, remarking that Governor Makinde, unlike some of his supporters who might feel betrayed by the development, had a sense of déjà vu.
According to Oyelade, never in the history of the country had a governor stood his ground, maintained his composure and remained firm in his convictions amid what he described as sustained and unrestricted intimidation, even as some of his colleagues capitulated against their personal will.
He said the message Makinde was sending was that “conscience is an open wound, and only truth can heal it.”
Oyelade added that the governor was reassuring Nigerians, particularly the people of Oyo State, that cowardice and prevarication were the least virtues needed at a time when, according to him, victory built on lies, empty promises, cajoling and deceit was coming to an end.
The commissioner maintained that the latest resignation was part of developments that come with the times.
