The Commissioner of Police, Delta State, Ari Muhammed Ali has warned officers and men of the command to desist from all forms of corruption and incivility to members of the public.

CP Ali gave the warning at an enlarged meeting with Area Commanders, Divisional Police Officers, tactical commanders and other officers in the Command on Friday, October 8, 2021, according to the Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Bright Edafe, in a statement on Monday, October 11, 2021.

He reiterated that the command under his watch would not tolerate such, and had put surveillance in place to check the activities of men posted, adding that any erring officer would be dealt with accordingly.

Citing the two officers dismissed recently as a lesson to all, the police boss also ordered that stop-and-search operations should be intensified, while constant raiding of black spot and criminal hideouts should be sustained.

In another development, policemen from Ovwian Aladja Division arrested two suspects on October 11 during the raid of criminal hideouts and black spots in Ujvwu Community in the state at about 7:40am.

Thenewsbearer learnt that on sighting the policemen, the suspects, who had gathered in a large number smoking cannabis, took to their heels, but were chased.

Two of them, Godspower Alfred (23) and Destiny Akwara (34) were arrested, and when searched, a locally-made cut-to-size gun and some wraps of weeds suspected to be cannabis were recovered from them.

Similarly, on Sunday, October 10, at about 10:30am, patrol team attached to Ovwian Aladja Division intercepted a commercial bus carrying some passengers, while on stop-and-search duty.

During a search of the passengers, the operatives recovered a locally-made single-barrel gun concealed in a bag of garri.

This was said to have led to the arrest of a suspect, one Pigi Kelvin (42) of Ututuoama town Ughelli South Local Government Area.

The PPRO said that investigations had commenced on the incidents, as directed by the police commissioner.
