Three suspects who allegedly kidnapped a victim before his escape while being put in another vehicle have been arrested by Delta State Police Command.
Also apprehended were three suspected armed who shot a motorcycle rider and took away his motorcycle about a year ago.
Confirming this on Wednesday, January 26, 2022, in a statement, the command’s Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Bright Edafe said that the suspects abducted a victim (names withheld) along Esiso Street Agbarho on Saturday, January 22 at about 9:30pm.
The kidnapped victim of Uvwiana Road, Agbarha, however escaped from his abductors as he was being transferred into another vehicle.
After reporting his experience to the police, Thenewsbearer learnt that the victim spotted one of the hoodlums the following day, which made him to alert the Divisional Police Officer in charge of Agbarho Division, CSP Samuel Ogwa.
The PPRO said that the DPO swiftly led police operatives to the area and arrested the suspect identified as Godstime Rufus, aged 22.
The suspect reportedly led operatives to his gang’s hideout where two other suspects who gave their Ames as Stanley Efeme (21) and Davidson Esiso (35) were nabbed.
They were all identified by the victim when they were shown to him after arrest, the PPRO stated.
Also, one of the suspected armed robbers who shot a motorcyclist and snatched his Qlink bike about a year ago was arrested after he was spotted by the victim.
The shooting and robbery, which occurred within Olomoro and Ehwne Communities in Isoko South Local Government Area in March 2021, was said to have been reported at Oleh Division by the 33-year-old victim.
While the victim was taken to Olomoro General Hospital where he was treated and discharged, the police initiated an investigation into the incident.
“Unluckily for the armed robbery gang, on Sunday, January 23, the victim spotted one of the hoodlums around Sagbama, Bayelsa State and immediately alerted the Command,” DSP Edafe disclosed.
He added that the state Commissioner of Police, Ari Muhammed Ali directed operatives from Oleh Division to proceed to Bayelsa State for a discreet investigation and arrest of the suspects.
This, according to the police spokesman, led to the arrest of George Akporie (25), Prosper Asaeta (29) and Eziekel Stephen (23) all of Igbide Community, Oleh, at Sagbama in Bayelsa State.
A locally-made gun was also recovered from them.
Edafe said that all the suspects would soon be charged to court after completion of investigations.
