The presidential candidate and National Chairman of the Action Alliance (AA), Aare Adekunle Rufai Omo-Aje, has assured governorship, National Assembly and State House of Assembly candidates whose names were omitted from the Independent National Electoral Commission’s (INEC) final list that the party is taking steps to resolve the issue ahead of the 2027 general elections.
Omo-Aje, who spoke at a town hall meeting in Kaduna, described the omission of some candidates as a possible technical error, disclosing that the party had commenced moves to secure a review of the published list and the restoration of the affected names.
He said the party’s legal team was preparing a formal complaint to INEC to draw the commission’s attention to the omissions and seek the prompt restoration of the affected candidates.
Among the governorship candidates reportedly affected are Comrade Sikiru Bayo Titilola-Sodo of Oyo State, Barr. Eke Benjamin Israel of Rivers State, Abdullah-Bukharin of Nasarawa State and Zubairu Musa of Bauchi State.
The AA chairman explained that the omissions were not limited to governorship candidates, as several party flagbearers contesting National Assembly and State House of Assembly seats were also reportedly missing from the published list.
He assured the affected candidates and party supporters that the party leadership was following up on the matter and would explore all available administrative and legal channels to ensure its resolution.
Omo-Aje maintained that the party had complied with INEC’s stipulated requirements and deadlines, expressing confidence that a review of the commission’s records would help resolve the situation.
He urged party members, particularly those in the affected states, to remain calm and law-abiding while the leadership pursues the matter through the appropriate channels.
The AA presidential candidate also commended INEC Chairman, Prof. Joash Amupitan, for what he described as transparent and committed leadership, expressing confidence in the commission’s ability to address the party’s concerns.
He reiterated the party’s commitment to the rule of law, due process and credible elections, stressing that it would continue to pursue the matter lawfully while protecting the interests of all duly nominated candidates.
Omo-Aje further called on INEC to strengthen its verification procedures before publishing final lists of candidates to minimise errors, reduce anxiety among political parties and prevent avoidable litigation ahead of the elections.
He added that the Action Alliance would continue its campaigns while working to ensure that all its duly nominated candidates were accorded the opportunity to participate in the 2027 general elections.
