The Adamawa State Police Command has arrested two suspects, William Joshua and Ezekiel Luka, in connection with a renewed Lamurde tribal conflict between the natives of Bachama and Chobo, which led to the killing of three women on Saturday, January 3, 2026.
Thenewsbearer gathered that the women were attacked by some Bachama natives in their farm around Tigno village, Lamurde Local Government Area.
The Police Public Relations Officer in Adamawa, SP Suleiman Yahaya Nguroje, who confirmed the arrest in a statement on Sunday, January 4, said that the suspects, aged 30 and 23 respectively and resident in Tigno, Lamurde LGA, were arrested following reliable information received.
Exhibits recovered included 29 rounds of live ammunition, an AK-47 rifle magazine and a cash sum of ₦90,000.
“Preliminary investigation conducted so far led to the recovery of some offensive weapons in their possession,” the PPRO stated.
Promising more details on the incident as they unfold, Nguroje said that the Commissioner of Police, Dankombo Morris, has appealed for calm, “as the Command is doing everything humanly and legally possible to bring perpetrators and their instigators to book.
He added that the suspects were helping in the investigation.
