The governorship candidate of the Allied Peoples’ Movement (APM) in Oyo State, Hon. Bimbo Adekanmbi, has pledged to adopt a holistic, community-based approach to tackling insecurity in the state, particularly in the Oke-Ogun axis.
Adekanmbi made the pledge on Tuesday, September 15, while featuring on the Good Morning Show of Arise TV, where he outlined plans to strengthen existing security structures and engage residents in the fight against crime.
He said his administration would strengthen the state security outfit, Amotekun, for optimal performance, while recruiting trusted residents from affected communities to complement the efforts of conventional security agencies.
The APM candidate also promised to collaborate with recognised local security organisations to improve security across the state.
Adekanmbi expressed concern over the lack of proper records of some residents in communities affected by insecurity, saying his government would prioritise the identification and registration of such individuals.
According to him, collecting accurate data on residents and their daily activities would enhance security monitoring and help security agencies detect potential threats.
He further pledged to work with traditional rulers, religious leaders and other relevant stakeholders to protect lives and property across Oyo State.
