The governorship candidate of the Allied People’s Movement (APM) in Oyo State, Hon. Bimbo Adekanmbi, has called on Nigerians to remain united, hopeful and committed to rebuilding the country as Nigeria marks its 66th Independence anniversary.
Adekanmbi, in a statement issued by his Director of Communication and Spokesperson, Yinka Oladoyinbo, on Wednesday, October 1, commended Nigerians for their resilience and unwavering belief in the unity and continued development of the country despite prevailing challenges.
He said Nigeria had recorded significant achievements in the 66 years since independence, urging citizens to protect the gains made and sustain the collective efforts required to move the country forward.
“I sincerely appreciate Nigerians for standing firm and believing in the unity of our country, refusing to allow our diversity to hinder our collective resolve to develop the great nation bequeathed to us by our founding fathers,” he said.
The APM candidate said the contributions of youths, elders, men and women across the country had sustained the nation, stressing that such collective spirit must be strengthened to restore Nigeria’s position as the “giant of Africa.”
Adekanmbi acknowledged the economic difficulties confronting Nigerians, particularly the rising cost of food, transportation and other basic necessities, which he attributed to certain federal policy decisions.
“The hardship is evident in the rising cost of food, transportation, and other basic necessities. I empathize deeply with Nigerians and affirm that there is hope for a new and better Nigeria,” he said.
He urged Nigerians not to lose hope but to remain committed to building a country that would be worthy of pride for present and future generations.
As the 2027 elections approach, Adekanmbi called for active and peaceful participation in the democratic process, urging voters to make informed choices based on the vision, competence and values presented by political parties and candidates.
He also appealed to the people of Oyo State to continue supporting the administration of Governor Seyi Makinde, saying the administration’s projects and programmes had contributed to the state’s reputation as the Pacesetter State.
“As the nation prepares for another round of elections next year, and in line with the articulated programmes of the APM, I urge the people to support and vote for all candidates of our great party to ensure the sustainability of the development Oyo State has witnessed in the last seven years,” he said.
