The Anambra State Police Command has joined the Department of State Services (DSS) and other security agencies in a sensitisation walk against violent crime across the state, as part of efforts to strengthen public safety and prevent criminal activities.
The exercise, held on Saturday, August 8, 2026, brought together personnel from various security agencies who marched in solidarity to raise public awareness about the dangers of violent crime and promote collective responsibility for maintaining peace and security in Anambra.
The Command said the walk was designed to reinforce inter-agency collaboration, intelligence sharing, community engagement and proactive crime prevention, while encouraging residents to remain vigilant and promptly report suspicious activities to security authorities.
The police urged community leaders, traditional rulers, religious organisations, youth and women groups, transport unions and other stakeholders to support security agencies by providing credible information capable of preventing crime and aiding the arrest of criminal elements.
The Command also called on residents to reject violence and avoid actions capable of disrupting public peace, stressing that the security of Anambra remains a collective responsibility.
The Police Public Relations Officer, Anambra State Command, SP Tochukwu Ikenga, reiterated the Command’s commitment to working with sister agencies and communities to create a safer environment for residents.
