Former Police Public Relations Officer in Lagos State, SP Bala Elkana, has been posted to Imo State Police Command to assume the position of its spokesman.
He takes over from the erstwhile PPRO, Ikeokwu Godson Orlando, also a Superintendent of Police, who has been redeployed to Ondo State Police Command.
In a statement he signed, Orlando said that Elkana was enlisted into the Nigeria Police Force in 2003. He holds a Bachelor Degree in Law (LLB), Master’s degree in Peace Studies and Conflict Resolution (MSC), and Master’s degree in Business Administration (MBA), among other academic qualifications.
The new Imo PPRO attended several courses, among which were Leadership Training, Detective Course, Community Policing, Trainee Course, Combat Operation Course, Emergency Management Course and Police Relations Course.
He is a member of the National Institute of Public Relations and also a member of International Association of Chiefs of Police, a Fellow and ICON of Corporate Institute of Administration.
Elkana has served in the Nigeria Police Force in different capacities, among which were his being the Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) in Niger, Akwa Ibom and Lagos State Police Commands.
He has also received so many awards among which were being the Best PRO in Nigeria 2020, Best PRO in Africa and Best PRO in Central and West Africa by Security Watch Africa.
Orlando, who expressed gratitude towards officers and men of the command over the opportunity of working with them, urged all to extend cooperation and support to the new PPRO.
“My consolation is that I am leaving you all in safe hands, because I know that the new PPRO is such a wonderful person and will do much better,” Orlando said.
