Benue State Police Command has arrested 10 suspects in connection with the killing of the Chairman of Miyetti Allah Cattle Breeders Association of Nigeria (MACBAN), Benue State Chapter, Alhaji Ardo Risku Mohammed, and one Yakubu Isa.
The suspects were identified as Titus Thyodenda, 25; Utibe Sam, 20; Owoicho Ameh, 18; Sunday Useni, 21; Sunday Ogbanje, 46; Daniel Raphael, 23; Adokole John, 24; Samuel Ogazi, 32; Agbo Daniel, 25; and Onazi James, 30.
Thenewsbearer reports that Alhaji Mohammed and Isa were on Friday, June 26, allegedly attacked by unknown assailants while returning from a security meeting along Okwudu-Ogoli road, Otukpo.
The Command, which informed the general public of the significant progress in the ongoing investigation, also condemned the unfortunate incident.
The Police Public Relations Officer in the Command, DSP Udeme Edet, said in a statement on Sunday, June 28, that the 10 suspects were arrested on Saturday, June, 27, in connection with the incident during a coordinated operation by tactical teams in Otukpo area of the state “following intensive intelligence and tactical operations carried out by the Command.”
The Commissioner of Police, Dr Cletus Nwadiogbu, who commended the tactical teams and investigators for their swift response and professionalism in making these arrests, assured members of the public that investigations are ongoing and efforts have been intensified to identify and apprehend other persons connected with this criminal act.
The Commissioner of Police reiterated the Command’s commitment to ensuring that all those found culpable are brought to justice in accordance with the law.
He appealed to residents of the state to remain calm, continue to cooperate with security agencies, and provide useful information that may assist in the investigation.
