Operatives attached to the Otolo-Nnewi Division of Anambra State Police Command have arrested 20-year-old Nnaji Chukwuka alleged of being a member of an armed robbery syndicate which was into motorcycle snatching and terrorising Nnewichi residents in Nnewi North Local Government Area.
The arrest was made on Thursday, May 29, following painstaking efforts of the operatives who had monitored the pattern of the criminal operations, coupled with a series of complaints about the activities of the gang in the area.
Recovered from him were a machete and an Honda Cub120 motorcycle.
The Police Public Relations Officer, SP Tochukwu Ikenga, who confirmed the arrest in a statement, said that the suspect had made useful statement that is aiding the investigation for possible arrest of the other gang members.
The PPRO added that the owner of the stolen motorcycle had been identified and the bike released to him.
