The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has uncovered four illegal lithium processing plants in Ogere, Ogun State, arresting 14 Chinese nationals and a Nigerian in an operation targeting suspected illicit mineral processing activities.

According to a statement issued on Monday, October 26, 2026, by the EFCC’s Head of Media and Publicity, Dele Oyewale, operatives of the commission’s Lagos Zonal Directorate 2 carried out the arrests on Friday, October 23, following credible intelligence and surveillance.

Items recovered from the suspects included bags of lithium rocks, 18 mobile devices, four laptops, two decoders, a television remote control and a trailer truck.

Oyewale said the suspects would be charged to court upon the conclusion of investigations.
