Former Super Eagles goalkeeper, Peter Rufai, reportedly passed away in the morning of Thursday, July 3.
Rufai died after a long illness that kept him out of the public eye for some time, according to a source.
Meanwhile, the family is yet to announce his death, but a top Lagos State Government official confirmed it.
Dodo Mayana, as he was fondly called, was one of Nigeria’s greatest goalkeepers, having represented Nigeria at the international tournament which earned him 65 caps for the national team, including appearances in two World Cups and the 1994 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) triumph.
During his playing career that lasted two decades, Rufai played in Belgium, the Netherlands, Portugal and Spain.
