Four male crew members injured but rescued from a burning helicopter which crashed at Oba Akran Avenue, Ikeja Lagos State on Tuesday, August 1.
The chopper was said to be a private training helicopter.
Confirming the incident in a statement, the Director, Lagos State Fire and Rescue Service, Margaret Adeseye, said that the crash occurred while the chopper was in use for a training exercise with four male crew members on board, consisting of two Nigerians and two white foreigners.
It reportedly crashed into an old communication pole opposite a bank in Ikeja.
Adeseye said: “The impact of the crash resulted in an inferno and was swiftly put out.
“All four crew members were rescued alive with varying degrees of injury.
“The motorised escort crew to the helicopter was joined by the Lagos State Fire and Rescue Service headquarters and Ikeja to avert secondary occurrence.
“Danger has been completely averted. Operations concluded.”
