Ogun State Coalition of Civil Societies, a pro-democracy and human rights group has commended the state police command, headed by the state Commissioner of Police, Edward Awolowo Ajogun, for its proactiveness and promptness in responding to distress calls.
The group made the commendation in an official letter dated May 14, 2021, and signed by the Chairman and acting Secretary, Yinka Folarin and Olaonipekun Bisi respectively.
Making the commendation known in a statement on Tuesday, May 18, 2021, the police image-maker in the State, DSP Abimbola Oyeyemi said that the accolade, according to the group, was based on timely rescue of many kidnap victims and subsequent arrest of many of the kidnappers across the state.
The group in the letter had said that in line with one of the resolutions passed at its monthly meeting held Tuesday, May 11, 2021, at the NLC Conference Hall Leme Abeokuta, Ogun State, “the coalition, after critical analysis and examination of the state of security, combative measures, and approach by the Nigeria Police Force, Ogun State Command, considered it noteworthy to inform your Commissioner of Police that the many timely rescue of kidnap victims, the command’s rapid response to armed robbery cases, rape incidents, among many other pervading heinous societal crimes and arrest of suspects are not unnoticed.
“The coalition, by a resolution, did commend the Commissioner of Police and the entire management team for the good work and proactiveness, even with limited resources.”
The group promised to foster partnership with the command towards sustainable peace, protection of human rights and a secured state for all and sundry.
