A former presenter and On Air Personality (OAP) with Naija FM, Titus Badejo, popularly known as Eja Nla, was murdered outside 407 Club at Oluyole Estate, Ibadan, Oyo State, at about 11:30 pm on Saturday, June 19, 2021.
Thenewsbearer learnt from a reliable source that Eja Nla, who had been at the club from about 9pm, was leaving with some friends, when two masked men riding on a motorcycle suddenly stopped, wielding guns and asking all of them to lie down.
Thereafter, they reportedly aimed at Eja Nla, shooting him repeatedly before leaving, after ensuring that he was dead, without taking anything from him or his friends.
Before his murder, Eja Nla had celebrated his birthday, said to be his 40th, a week ago.
An Ogbomoso indigene, he was said to have gathered other indigenes in the town on his birthday, holding an elaborate programme by Eja Nla Entertainment, tagged ‘Made in Ogbomoso,’ to celebrate the birthday event.
On hearing of the incident policemen from Oluyole Division were said to have gone to the scene, from where he was rushed to Adeoyo Hospital, Ring Road, after which his body was deposited in the mortuary after he was confirmed dead.
Eja Nla was also said to be an actor in Yoruba movies, as he had posted on his WhatsApp platform about being on location with popular actors such as Femi Adebayo and others.
When contacted, the Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Adewale Osifeso, confirmed the story, saying that it was reported to the police at Oluyole Division by the manager of Club 407, Damilola Afolabi, at about 7:30am on Sunday, June 20.
According to the PPRO, Eja Nla, whom he said was shot on Saturday outside the club premises, was rushed to Adeoyo State Hospital, where he eventually died.
“Investigations are in top gear to unravel circumstances surrounding his death and as well identify and apprehend the perpetrators of the dastardly act,” Osifeso said.
