•Man lands in trouble over girlfriend’s death after procuring abortion
Two female suspects have been arrested by detectives in Lagos State Police Command, for allegedly causing the death of a 64-year-old man, Osita Anwuanwu, on Thursday, April 8, 2021, at Arida area of Ikotun area, at about 8:45pm.
This was disclosed by the state Police Public Relations Officer, CSP Olumuyiwa Adejobi, on Sunday, April 11.
The PPRO said in a statement that the case was reported by the daughter of the deceased, Linda Anwuanwu, of Temitope Street, off Governor’s Road, Ikotun.
The daughter, according to Adejobi, told the police at Ikotun Division that she got an information that her father was lying down in a bar at Arida, after he had a misunderstanding with one Emezue Ngozi (38) and Eguebor Juliet (35).
“Police detectives at Ikotun Division raced to the scene and took the man to the General Hospital, Igando, where he was certified dead,” he said.
The PPRO stated further that preliminary investigation by the police indicated that the deceased had gone to check his lady friend, Juliet, who he had not seen for some time, at Ngozi’s bar, where he engaged the duo in a hot argument and physical assault before he slumped.
He added that the suspects had been transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department, Panti, Yaba, for proper investigation into the circumstances surrounding Anwuanwu’s death.
In another homicide case, detectives attached to Ikorodu Division arrested one Wisdom Okoro, aged 50, from Orlu in Imo State, for the sudden death of his girlfriend, one Enobong Udoh, 38, on Sunday, April 11, at about 10:45am.
The detectives were informed by one Blessing Pius of 46, Adegboruwa Street, Igbogbo, Ikorodu, that the deceased was found dead in her house, opposite Meras Hotel, along Igbogbo Road, Ikorodu.
“The detectives swung into action and invited her boyfriend for interrogation, during which he confessed that the deceased informed him that she was pregnant in February.
“He added that he was in her house to check on her on Saturday, April 10, at about 5.14pm when the deceased informed him that she had terminated her pregnancy,” the police spokesman said.
He however remarked that the suspect’s statements and utterances revealed that he had some questions to answer.
The PPRO said that the state Commissioner of Police, Hakeem Odumosu had ordered the suspect to be transferred to the Homicide Section of the State Criminal Investigation Department, Panti, Yaba, for further investigation.
