‎Friday, February 6, 2926- Hundreds of residents of Ngoshe community in Gwoza Local Government Area of Borno State are still missing following a deadly attack by suspected Boko Haram insurgents.
‎
‎The attackers reportedly stormed the community around midnight on Wednesday, abducting more than 300 residents and forcing thousands of survivors to flee their homes. Many of the displaced persons have since taken refuge in nearby Pulka community, where several are reportedly sleeping on roads and inside school buildings for fear of further attacks.
‎
‎Local sources said the assailants carried out the raid with heavy gunfire, causing widespread panic as residents scrambled to escape the violence. The attack has left many families searching for their missing relatives amid growing concerns about the fate of those abducted.
‎
‎Senator Mohammed Ali Ndume, who represents Borno South Senatorial District, confirmed the attack and said civilians, soldiers and insurgents were killed during the incident. He also disclosed that many residents were abducted or remain unaccounted for after the assault.
‎
‎The lawmaker called for intensified military operations in Sambisa Forest and the Mandara Mountains to curb the activities of Boko Haram and Islamic State West Africa Province fighters in southern Borno.
‎
‎The latest attack has once again highlighted the fragile security situation in parts of the North-East, where communities continue to face periodic assaults by insurgent groups despite ongoing military operations in the region.
