Two bodies have been evacuated from the rubbles of a seven-storey building under construction on Oba Idowu Oniru Street, beside Ave Maria Hospital, Lagos State.
Six people had been reported to be trapped in the collapsed building which occurred in the early hours of Sunday, September 4, 2022, before the evacuation of the two bodies by officials of the Lagos State Emergency Management Agency (LASEMA).
In a press statement, the Permanent Secretary, LASEMA, Dr Olufemi Damilola Oke-Osanyintolu, confirmed the incident in the early hours of Sunday.
He said that the agency responded to a distress call at the location and activated its response plan while operation commenced on the site to rescue those trapped.
According to the Permanent Secretary, “upon arrival at the scene, an uncompleted seven-storey building undergoing construction was found to have collapsed.
“Six people were reported to be trapped under the rubble
of the collapsed structure. Two bodies have been located and recovered thus far.”
