A first class traditional ruler, the Adogu of Eganyi, in Ajaokuta Local Government Area of Kogi State, Muhammed Adambe, has regained freedom after five days in captivity.
The traditional ruler was released on Saturday evening.
A source close to the palace quoted the traditional ruler as saying that “after a very long and tortuous journey into the bush, my captors returned me to Ebiraland on Saturday evening.”
The source said the royal father could not tell exactly where he was taken to, but believed it was outside Ebiraland.
The source, who thanked God for the safe return of the royal father, said he returned unhurt.
It will be recalled that the traditional ruler was kidnapped last Tuesday on the Okene – Ajaokuta road while returning to his domain after an engagement in Okene.
The kidnappers had demanded N30 million, but the source could not tell if ransom was paid to secure his release.
The Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) in the state, DSP William Ayah, while confirming the release of the royal father, said he was not aware of any payment of ransom.
