The Kwara State Governor, Mallam AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, has donated 25 brand-new Hilux vehicles to the state Police Command to strengthen security operations and enhance the protection of lives and property across the state.
The Police Public Relations Officer of the Command, SP Adetoun Ejire-Adeyemi, disclosed this in a statement on Monday, October 12, on behalf of the Commissioner of Police, Ojo Adekimi.
The donation is expected to improve police operational mobility, strengthen visibility patrols and facilitate faster responses to distress calls and emerging security threats.
The governor, who is also the Chairman of the Nigeria Governors’ Forum and the Sardauna of Ilorin Emirate, said the gesture was aimed at supporting the police in the effective discharge of their duties and enhancing their capacity to tackle security challenges across Kwara State.
Reacting to the donation, the Commissioner of Police expressed profound appreciation to the governor for his sustained support and commitment to strengthening security in the state.
Adekimi said the donation aligned with the operational priorities of the Inspector-General of Police, IGP Olatunji Rilwan Disu, particularly the emphasis on proactive, intelligence-led policing and improved operational effectiveness.
He assured residents that the vehicles would be deployed judiciously to strengthen policing operations and improve service delivery across the state.
The commissioner further emphasised the importance of sustained collaboration between the state government and the police in achieving lasting peace and public safety.
He also commended the governor for his continued partnership with the command, noting that the provision of operational vehicles would support efforts to prevent crime, respond to security threats and protect residents.
The Kwara State Police Command reiterated its commitment to intensifying crime prevention efforts and improving responses to security challenges across the state.
The command also urged members of the public to provide timely and credible information to assist the police in preventing and detecting crime.
