The story going round that the former governor of Oyo state, Senator Rashidi Ladoja has gone back to the Accord Party has been described as false and misleading.
The loyalists of the former governor in the Peoples Democratic Party on Wednesday in Ibadan, the state capital, urged the public to disregard the claim.
The group, consisting of former members of the Zenith Labour Party in Oyo state through their leader, Comrade Wole Abisoye, told newsnen after its meeting that Ladoja was no longer a card-carrying member of any political party but remain a fatherly figure to every politician in the state and nationwide.
“We are through this medium calling on the public to disregard the claim making round that our reverred
High Chief, Otun Olubadan, Senator Rashidi Adewolu Ladoja, has directed his political family to join the Accord Party,” the statement read in part.
According to Abisoye, the group during the meeting of its stakeholders across the 33 local government areas of the state, warned people to desist from spreading rumour capable of causing confusion and tarnishing the good name of Senator Ladoja.
“Chief Ladoja is no longer a partisan politician but acts as father to anybody that seeks for his advice. He has never been involved in resurrecting the hitherto inactive and deadhood party,” he added.
In a related development, the group also appealed to the good people of Oyo state to join hands with Governor Seyi Makinde to move the state forward.
They pledged to work towards the governor’s second term bid, and also ensure that all the candidates for elective posts of the PDP in the 2023 general elections emerge victorious.
The group also congratulated Alhaji Atiku Abubakar for emerging the presidential candidate of PDP, urging him to carry every stakeholder along to ensure success of the party in the 2023 general elections.
