The Commissioner of Police, Lagos State, Abiodun Alabi, has charged Area Commanders, Divisional Police Officers/Heads of Departments and tactical commanders to turn their long-time relationship with him into success in the state.
CP Alabi gave the charge at his maiden meeting with them shortly after taking over as the state police boss on January 24, 2022 at the Command Headquarters, Ikeja, according to a statement by the command’s spokesman, CSP Adekunle Ajisebutu.
The police commissioner was said to have stated this to prevent the abdication of statutory duties by some officers who might want to take an advantage of their familiarity with him and take things for granted.
Alabi said that as much as he cherished friendship, it should not be at the detriment of diligence, result-oriented policing and quality service delivery to the people.
He also directed the Area Commanders and DPOs to constantly engage and partner with critical stakeholders in their areas of responsibilities for effective policing.
Speaking further, the Commissioner of Police warned officers against corruption and infringement on fundamental human rights of Nigerians.
He, however, assured that he would always provide good leadership that would help them succeed in the discharge of their duties.
