The Lagos State Police Command has arrested a 24-year-old suspected member of the Eiye Confraternity and recovered a locally made single-barrel pistol during an intelligence-led operation in Mushin.
The suspect, identified as Segun Alani, was arrested at Ogunmokun Under-Bridge, Mushin, following credible information about cult-related activities in the area.
According to a statement by the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Abimbola AdebisI, on Wednesday, August 14, operatives deployed a surveillance team to the location and apprehended Alani.
A search of the bag in his possession subsequently led to the recovery of the locally-made single-barrel pistol, which had been concealed inside the bag.
The suspect remains in Police custody and is providing useful information to assist the ongoing investigation, the PPRO stated.
The Commissioner of Police, Lagos State Command, Tijani Fatai, commended the operatives for their prompt response and intelligence-driven operation.
He reiterated the Command’s determination to disrupt cult-related activities and recover illegal firearms across the state, warning cultists and other criminal elements to desist from criminal activities or face the full wrath of the law.
