In line with the Lagos State Commissioner of Police, Hakeem Odumosu’s promise to sanitise Ikorodu of crime and criminality, a special squad of the police command hit the town on Thursday February 4, 2021 at about 6pm, leading to the arrest of five suspects.
Also, shanties, blockades and open markets were removed from the roads in Ikorodu Division, particularly at Agric Area and some other parts of the town.

The PPRO said that the operations were carried out simultaneously in the areas that had become an eyesore and criminal hideouts, with a view to making the town free of gridlock and crimes.
“The squad succeeded in clearing the blockades, illegal parks and shops on the roads, where it arrested five suspected traffic robbers and cultists,” the police spokesman stated.
The names of the suspects were given as Tanimowo Babatunde (41), Gbolahan Oladimeji (25), Kabiru Amanda (30), Ibrahim Abubakri (29) and Wasiu Rafiu (19).
He added that the Commissioner of Police has vowed to consistently carry out sting operations in Ikorodu Division and other parts of the state, in order to ensure adequate protection of lives and property.
Odumosu appealed to traditional rulers and leaders, as well as market women leaders and unions in the town to support the police, in their efforts to sanitise the town and initiate better security network.
