Detectives in Ogun State Police Command have commenced a search for a tenant, one Emmanuel (surname yet to be known) following the death of his landlord, Benjamin Apeh, on June 1, 2024, in Sagamu during an argument over unpaid house rent fee.
This was confirmed by the command’s spokeswoman, SP Omotola Odutola, on Tuesday, June 4.
Thenewsbearer learnt that incident, which was reported to the Divisional Police Officer at Sotubo Division, by the deceased’s daughter, Precious, on Monday, June 3, occurred at Arigbabu Village, Sotubo, at about 7:20pm.
During the argument, the tenant reportedly threatened his landlord.
The following day, Sunday, June 2, another altercation occurred at about 6:30am, during which the landlord collapsed, leading to his being rushed to NNPC Hospital, Mosimi, for medical attention.
He was later confirmed dead by the doctor who attended to him.
The body of the deceased has been deposited in the morgue at Olabisi Onabanjo Teaching Hospital (OOUTH), Sagamu, for autopsy, SP Odutola disclosed.
The PPRO said: “The suspect fled the scene, but efforts are underway to apprehend him.”
She added that detectives, led by SP Temitope Fapohunda, had visited the scene and were already working towards finding the suspect.
