Detectives in Ogun State Police Command have begun a search for a man, David Edet, who went into hiding after having carnal knowledge of a 12-year-old girl (name withheld) on Friday, February 9, in his room at his residence on Ojumele Street, Sagamu.
The case was reported by a relation of the victim, suspected to be her father, on Saturday, February 20, at about 9:40am.
The command’s spokeswoman, SP Omolola Odutola, who confirmed the incident, said that detectives visited the scene, with the victim immediately taken to a hospital in the town for medical examination.
“We are currently awaiting the doctor’s report. The suspect, David Edet, is still at large.
“Preliminary investigation is in progress, and as soon as the suspect is arrested, the case will be transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) in Abeokuta for discreet investigation,” the PPRO said.
