Two daughters of veteran Nollywood actor, Taiwo Hassan, popularly known as Ogogo, have appealed for urgent medical assistance for their father, who is battling stage four cancer.
The daughters, Lima and Kira Taiwo, made emotional appeals in separate videos shared on Instagram, alleging that hospitals had declined to continue treatment for the 66-year-old actor due to the severity of his condition.
Fighting back tears, Lima said the family only became aware of the seriousness of the illness about three weeks ago and is desperately seeking medical professionals or facilities willing to take over his treatment.
She stressed that the family was not soliciting financial assistance but was seeking access to specialised medical care that could give the actor another chance at survival.
In a separate appeal, Kira disclosed that her father’s cancer had reached stage four and claimed that doctors had informed the family that chemotherapy could no longer be administered.
She appealed to anyone with expertise in cancer treatment to come to the actor’s aid.
Kira also expressed gratitude to Senator Solomon Olamilekan Adeola, popularly known as Yayi, whom she said had been supporting the family and helping to cover medical expenses.
The daughters repeatedly emphasised that their appeal was for medical intervention rather than donations, urging anyone who could connect them with cancer specialists or treatment centres to reach out.
Hassan, a household name in Yoruba cinema, has spent more than four decades in the Nigerian film industry and has featured in over 300 movies.
As of the time of filing this report, neither the actor’s management nor his family had released further details about the specific type of cancer or the hospitals involved in his treatment.
