The Olugbon of Orile-Igbon, Oba Francis Olusola Alao, has condoled with the Ooni of Ife, Oba Adeyeye Ogunwusi, over the death of his immediate elder brother, Prince Adetunji Ogunwusi, describing the loss as a painful one for the royal family, the business community and the Yoruba traditional institution.
The Ooni announced the passing of his elder brother on Sunday, July 19, paying tribute to his life of entrepreneurship, philanthropy and service.
In a statement issued on Tuesday, July 21, Oba Alao said he received the news with profound sadness and urged the Ooni to draw strength from the exemplary life and enduring legacy of the late prince.
The monarch described Prince Ogunwusi as a distinguished entrepreneur and community leader who upheld the royal heritage with honour, noting that his contributions to Nigeria’s private sector, particularly as Group Chairman of Prime Waterview Holdings and Chairman of Prime Waterview Limited, would remain indelible.
Oba Alao said the late prince was admired for his integrity, humility, resilience and commitment to empowering others, adding that his leadership was marked by discipline, professionalism and a passion for creating opportunities for growth and development.
According to him, Prince Ogunwusi embodied the values of dignity, honour and responsibility associated with the Yoruba heritage and the illustrious Ojaja lineage, while making meaningful contributions to community development and national progress.
The Olugbon said the prince’s death was not only a great loss to the Ogunwusi family but also to Nigeria’s business community and traditional institutions.
He added that the people of Orile-Igbon stand in solidarity with the Ooni, the Ogunwusi family and the people of Ile-Ife during the period of mourning.
Oba Alao, on behalf of his wife, Olori Olushola Adedoyin-Alao, and the people of Orile-Igbon, extended heartfelt condolences to the Ooni, the entire Ogunwusi family, the Giesi Ruling House, friends, associates and all whose lives were touched by the late prince, praying that God grants them the strength and fortitude to bear the irreparable loss.
