Commissioner of Police in Osun State, Olawale Olokode, has assured the people of Ikoyi Ile and its environs, and those in the state generally that his command will ensure adequate and visibility policing.
Olokode stated this while commissioning the upgraded Ikoyi Divisional Police Headquarters and official patrol vehicle at Ikoyi-Ile, on Monday, May 31, 2021.
In his speech at the event, the police boss congratulated His Royal Majesty, Oba Yisau Oyetunji Otunla, Kodaolu I, Olukoyi of Ikoyi Kingdom, and the people of Ikoyi for the strong support and assistance which helped in the completion and commissioning of the Division.
Police Public Relations Officer, SP Yemisi Opalola, said in a statement on Tuesday, June 1, that Olokode described the commissioning as marking an important milestone in making the police closer to the people of the community.
The police commissioner also said that it was of great significance to effective and efficient policing.
On behalf of the acting Inspector-General of Police, Usman Baba Alkali, who was represented by him, Olokode gave an assurance that the Division would be judiciously utilized for expected visibility policing in the community and beyond.
Promising to work together with the monarch and people of the community to provide peaceful atmosphere and eventually improve the security of lives and property, the CP solicited for higher level of cooperation and collaboration through timely and factual information to the police and other security agencies.
He expressed the belief that this would aid law enforcement agents in stemming the tide of criminal activities in the community and the state at large.
