‎Police arrest suspects over killing of three officers in Taraba

Sunday, April 5, 2026 — The Taraba State Police Command has arrested suspects in connection with the killing of three police officers in Donga Local Government Area of the state.

‎The arrest followed intensified security operations after gunmen attacked a police team in Tor-Damisa community, where the officers were ambushed while responding to a distress call.

‎According to police authorities, the officers were deployed alongside other security operatives to restore order after reports of an attack on a nearby village. On arrival, they were engaged in a fierce gun battle by suspected bandits, leading to the deaths of three officers.
‎
‎The incident, which also claimed the life of a local vigilante leader, sparked outrage and prompted a manhunt for the perpetrators.
‎
‎Police sources confirmed that suspects linked to the attack have now been apprehended in separate operations.
‎
‎ Some of those arrested were reportedly intercepted while attempting to flee, while arms and ammunition were also recovered during the raids.

‎The Commissioner of Police in the state described the arrests as a breakthrough in the investigation, assuring residents that efforts were ongoing to apprehend other fleeing suspects and ensure justice for the slain officers.
