Two suspects who allegedly kidnapped one Raphael Okpe on his way to farm have been arrested by operatives in Benue State Police Command.
The suspects, whose names were given as Abdulahi Mohammed and Yusuf Saidu, were said to have been arrested on Thursday, June 16, 2022, by a team of Operation Zenda JTF while on patrol within Otukpa, Ogbadibo Local Government Area after they received information about the kidnap.
According to the Police Public Relations Officer in the state, SP Catherine Anene, who made this known, “the team responded immediately and chased the kidnappers into their hideout where they engaged them in a gun duel.
“Consequently, two of the suspects, named Abdulahi Mohammed and Yusuf Saidu, were arrested while the other suspects escaped with gunshot injuries.
“The victim who was already shot in the leg by the hoodlums was rescued and taken to hospital where he is responding to treatment.
“Ten rounds of AK-47 ammunition were recovered from the hideout. Investigation is ongoing to arrest other suspects at large.”
