The Imo State Police Command has arrested two suspects in connection with the alleged murder of a police inspector at the residence of the Commissioner for Trade, Commerce and Investment, Hon. Rex Anunobi, in Owerri.
The Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Henry Okoye, in a statement on Wednesday, September 16, said that the suspects, identified as 31-year-old Olivia Patrick and 25-year-old ThankGod Mourice, were arrested at the scene shortly after the incident was reported on September 14, 2026.
The police inspector was allegedly killed at the commissioner’s residence under circumstances that have now prompted a full-scale investigation by the command.
Following the incident, the Commissioner of Police, Audu Garba Bosso, directed a thorough investigation to unravel the circumstances surrounding the inspector’s death and ensure that those responsible are brought to justice.
Acting on the directive, the Deputy Commissioner of Police in charge of the State Criminal Investigations Department (SCID), alongside the Divisional Police Officer of New Owerri Division, visited the scene and conducted necessary examinations.
Relevant exhibits recovered from the scene were secured for further investigation, while the remains of the deceased inspector were deposited at a mortuary.
The case has since been transferred to the SCID for further investigation, while police operatives are intensifying efforts to apprehend other suspects who are currently at large.
CP Bosso directed the investigating team to ensure that anyone found culpable is prosecuted in accordance with the law.
The Commissioner of Police also commiserated with the family of the deceased inspector, assuring them of the command’s commitment to ensuring that justice is served.
The command said the situation is under control, adding that appropriate security measures have been put in place to safeguard lives and property across the state.
It urged members of the public to remain vigilant and provide credible information that could assist the ongoing investigation.
