The Presidency has said that its guards gallantly repelled the shooting at the convoy of cars carrying the advance team of security guards, protocol and media officers ahead of the President Muhammadu Buhari’s trip to Daura for Sallah near Dutsinma, Katsina State, describing the incident as sad and unwelcome.
Thenewsbearer learnt that the attackers opened fire on the convoy from ambush positions, but were repelled by the military, police and DSS personnel accompanying the convoy.
Members of the president’s team in the convoy attacked by gunmen on Tuesday, July 5, 2022, were the advance team of security guards, protocol, and media officers attached to the office.
In a statement by the Senior Special Assistant to the President
(Media & Publicity, Garba Shehu, it was said that two persons in the convoy were receiving treatment for the minor injuries they suffered, while all other personnel, staff and vehicles made it safely to Daura.
