A 33-year-old man, Imoleayo Adekoya, has been arrested Ogun State Police Command for unlawfully having carnal knowledge of a lady (name withheld), aged 27.
Thenewsbearer learnt in a statement issued by the state Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Abimbola Oyeyemi, on Sunday, August 29, 2021, that the suspect was arrested on Saturday, August 28, following a report lodged at Sakora divisional headquarters in Sagamu by the victim, that while she was coming from Ipoji area, she was accosted by the suspect.
Accused of not greeting him, the victim said that she apologized, saying that it was because he was an unfamiliar face.
To her shock, however, the man started beating her and dragged her to the back of his house, where he forcefully tore her clothes and forced his way into her despite shouting and struggling.
According to the PPRO, the report made the Divisional Police Officer in charge of Sakora division, CSP Rowland Dahunsi, to send detectives after the suspect.
They had gone to the scene and promptly arrested the suspect, who was identified by the victim, with the assistance of the people around.
“On interrogation, the suspect confessed to the commission of the crime, but claimed to be under the influence of alcohol at the time.
The victim has been taken to hospital for treatment and medical report,” Oyeyemi stated further.
He added that the state Commissioner of Police, Edward Awolowo Ajogun, had ordered the immediate transfer of the suspect to the State Criminal Investigation and Intelligence Department for further investigation and prosecution.
