A popular Ibadan-based broadcaster, Aare Saheed Alatise, popularly known as Oba Irawo, was on Saturday, August 9, 2025, attacked by a robber who snatched his mobile phone while he was answering a call inside a tricycle, also known as Keke NAPEP.
The incident occurred at noon at 110 area, along Dugbe–Apata Road, in Ibadan, the Oyo State capital.
According to Alatise, he was attempting to answer a persistent call from a radio listener when the assailant suddenly reached into the tricycle and snatched his LG Velvet mobile phone, which also serves as his online radio studio contact line 08073949431
Efforts by the victim and passersby to apprehend the suspect proved unsuccessful, as the robber fled the scene immediately after the theft.
“The tricyclist tried to pursue the phone snatcher, but there was traffic, so there was no space to weave his way through. The thief even looked back at us mockingly, as if daring us to come after him,” Alatise said.
