An administrative staff of a College of Health Technology, Olawale Jamiu, has been arrested by men of Ogun State Police Command for allegedly having unlawful carnal knowledge of a student (name withheld).
The 39-year-old staff was arrested after he was reported at Ilese Ijebu divisional headquarters by the management of the college.
According to the command’s police spokesman, DSP Abimbola Oyeyemi, in a statement on Tuesday, August 10, 2021, the management said that the victim was raped when she went to collect her school file from the office of the suspect.
He was said to have dragged the victim into the file room and forcefully had sex with her, causing the victim to narrate the incident to her guardian on her getting home.
Not wanting to be the only one to hear of such unlawful act, the guardian went to the school’s authority to report the incident.
Divisional Police Officer in charge of Ilese division, CSP Amuda Ajibola had sent his detectives to the college where the suspect was promptly arrested.
On interrogation, the suspect, who initially denied the allegation, was speechless when confronted with the apologetic message he sent to the victim after his act.
The PPRO said that the victim had been taken to State Hospital, Ijebu Ode for medical treatment, while the state Commissioner of Police, Edward Awolowo Ajogun ordered the immediate transfer of the suspect to Anti-Human Trafficking and Child Labour Unit of the State Criminal Investigation and Intelligence Department for further investigation and subsequent prosecution.
