The Director of Scientific Equipment Development Institute (SEDI), Enugu State, Prof. Simon Ndubisi, was on Wednesday , July 7, 2021, reportedly assassinated on Port Harcourt-Enugu highway.
SEDI is a federal government institute under the National Agency for Science and Engineering Infrastructure (NASENI).
Thenewsbearer also learnt from available reports that Prof. Ndubuisi’s police orderly was also killed at the spot.
When contacted, the Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), Enugu State Command, Mr Daniel Ndukwe confirmed the incident.
But Ndukwe said that information about the incident was still sketchy.
The incident, according to the PPRO, occurred at about 4pm.
According to Ndukwe, “Information surrounding a shooting incident today, 07/07/2021 at about 1600hrs, along Enugu-Port Harcourt Expressway, said to have led to the death of a man and his police orderly is still sketchy.
“Meanwhile, preliminary investigation has commenced. Further development will be duly communicated.”
The latest incident is coming barely 48 hours after the Chief Executive Officer, AutoEase, a vehicle body repair, Mr Ifeanyi Okeke, was also killed about two kilometres away from the latest scene.
