Death claimed the life of a female victim, Simisola Abedoye on Sunday, March 6, 2022, while five others were critically injured in a fatal motor accident which occurred at Amje Bus Stop, Ajegunle, Alagbado area of Lagos State at about 3pm.
The accident involved a black Toyota Highlander SUV with registration number BDG 654 DC, driven by one Akinola Sulaimon.
Confirming the auto crash, the Police Public Relations Officer in the state, CSP Adekunle Ajisebutu, disclosed that the driver rammed into some shops at Amje area while driving from Toll Gate axis towards Kola Bus Stop on Abeokuta-Lagos expressway.
CSP Ajisebutu said that the injured victims were immediately taken to the General Hospital, Ota, Ogun State where they had been receiving medical treatment.
The body of the deceased had been deposited at the morgue of the same hospital for autopsy, it was further learnt.
The PPRO added that the driver had been arrested and was in police custody, while efforts were being made to recover the vehicle involved in the crash.
Condoling the family of the deceased over the unfortunate loss, the state Commissioner of Police, Abiodun Alabi, also directed a speedy but thorough investigation into the accident.
