The remains of Special Adviser to Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri, Thomas Godwin, popularly known as Zamfara, was laid to rest at his home town in Kala’a, Hong Local Government Area, Adamawa State, on Thursday , April 17, amid tears and eulogies.
Zamfara was murdered at night on Tuesday, April 15, by unknown persons. He was aged 49.
A funeral mass was held at Saint Michael Catholic Church, Kala’a, after which he was buried.
At the funeral mass, family members, friends and dignitaries who were in attendance shed tears uncontrollably at tragic death of their loved one.
Eulogising the late Zamfara, the Tol Huba, HRM Alheri Bulus Nyako, lamented the manner he died, saying that such ugly incident would not be allowed to occur again.
In their separate tributes, the Speaker Adamawa State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Bathiya Wesley; Senator Adamawa Central, Aminu Iya Abbas; former Minister of Education, Dr Aliyu Idi Hong and the Chairman Hong LGA, Hon Usman Inuwa Wa’aganda eulogised late Zamfara for his contributions to the party and the community.
Describing him as a peace maker, they said that the deceased would be sorely missed, not only by his immediate family, but the party and the community as a whole.
They called on the security operatives to investigate the mystery behind Zamfara’s death and bring the perpetrators to boom.
Meanwhile, the Adamawa State Police Command has begun an investigation into the killing.
Thenewsbearer learnt that preliminary reports indicated that the victim was attacked by unknown person(s) while returning home.
He was reportedly beaten with sticks and clubs, resulting in his death.
The police spokesman, SP Suleiman Yahaya Nguroje, said that the Commissioner of Police, Dankombo Morris, has directed the Deputy Commissioner of Police in charge of the State Criminal Investigation Department to carry a full-scale investigation into the incident.
“Team of detectives has been deployed to conduct investigation and ensure that the perpetrators are identified and brought to justice,” the PPRO stated.
While praying for the departed soul to rest in peace, the Command urged members of the public to give useful information that would aid its investigation.
Before his death, Zamfara was the Special Adviser to Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri.
He was also the Local Government Organising Secretary of the People’s Democratic Party, Hong LGA.
He left behind aged parents, brothers and sisters.
