Three persons have been killed and four others injured following an attack at Aboajo Village, Mbateren Mbazum Council Ward, Ukum Local Government Area of Benue State.
The Benue State Police Command, in a statement by the Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Orchia Peter Aondongu, confirmed that the incident occurred on Sunday, August 16, 2026, at about 7a.m.
According to the Command, the victims were attacked by suspected assailants, leaving three persons dead at the scene while four others sustained machete injuries.
The injured victims were rescued and taken to a medical facility, where they are currently receiving treatment.
Following the attack, the Police Command said it has deployed additional tactical and patrol teams to the affected community to restore security and prevent further attacks.
The Command added that concerted efforts are underway to identify and apprehend those responsible for the attack.
It assured residents of the area that security operations and monitoring efforts are ongoing to track the perpetrators and maintain peace in the community.
