‎Tinubu approves posting of new ambassadors, high commissioners

‎March 6, 2026: Abuja — Bola Ahmed Tinubu has approved the postings of 65 ambassadors to various diplomatic missions abroad, according to a State House press release issued on Friday.
‎
‎The appointments include 31 non-career ambassadors and 34 career diplomats who will represent Nigeria in different countries and at the United Nations.
‎
‎The Senate had earlier confirmed the nominees in December 2025.
‎
‎Presidential spokesman Bayo Onanuga said the Ministry of Foreign Affairs has begun the process of notifying host countries and requesting diplomatic approval (agrément) for the envoys, in line with international practice.
‎
‎He added that agrément has already been received from the United Kingdom for Ambassador-designate Aminu Dalhatu and from France for Ambassador-designate Ayo Oke.
‎President Tinubu also directed the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to immediately begin an induction programme for all ambassadors-designate before their departure for their respective missions.
