‎Tinubu mourns Brigadier-General, soldiers killed in Borno attack

‎Friday, April 10, 2026: President Bola Tinubu has expressed deep sorrow over the killing of Brigadier-General Oseni Omoh Braimah and other soldiers during a terrorist attack on a military base in Borno State.

‎In a statement released on Thursday, the President described the fallen senior officer and troops as “unforgettable heroes” who paid the ultimate price in defence of the nation.
‎
‎Tinubu extended his condolences to the families of the late Brigadier-General and other personnel, noting that their sacrifice would never be forgotten.
‎
‎“I extend my condolences to the families of our gallant soldiers, led by Brigadier-General Oseni Omoh Braimah, who made the ultimate sacrifice in the defence of our country,” he said.
‎
‎The President commended the courage of the troops, stating that they fought valiantly to repel the attackers and prevent them from overrunning communities in the area.
‎
‎He added that ongoing military offensives against insurgents had significantly weakened them, describing the latest assault as a desperate counterattack.
‎
‎Tinubu also urged members of the armed forces not to be discouraged by the incident, encouraging them to remain steadfast in their duty to protect the country.
‎
‎He further called on Nigerians to support the military and refrain from actions or narratives that undermine the morale of troops engaged in counter-insurgency operations.
‎
‎The attack, which occurred in Benisheikh, Borno State, claimed the lives of the senior officer and several soldiers, highlighting the persistent security challenges in Nigeria’s North-East region.
